Her fifth album, Girl on Fire, dropped just before Thanksgiving, so it was only a matter of weeks before Alicia Keys would reveal North American dates to promote it. As it is, hers is one of the first major outings to be announced in 2013 — at least that’s headed our way.

Keys, who turns 32 this month, is launching her Set the World on Fire Tour from Seattle on March 7, and logically she will arrive in Southern California soon after. Two shows: March 12 at Staples Center in Los Angeles and March 13 at Valley View Casino Center, the former San Diego Sports Arena.

Elevating its must-see level a few notches is the opening act, rising star Miguel, red-hot off big sales and bigger acclaim for his second album, Kaleidoscope Dream.

After its local stops, Keys’ tour then heads to Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas on March 15. Tickets for all dates go on sale Jan. 18 at 10 a.m. Prices when we see/hear ‘em.

In other R&B news, the three ladies of Destiny’s Child — Beyoncé Knowles, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams — recently regrouped to record their first song in eight years, “Nuclear,” which will appear on a new V-Day-timed compilation, Love Songs, due Jan. 29. The rest of the 14-song set comprises the finer moments from all four of the trio’s proper studio albums, from their eponymous 1998 debut to 2004′s Destiny Fulfilled.
